Rabat: different times in one view
The Mohammed V Mausoleum occupies the foreground, with a modern tall building on the horizon. The photograph cannot summarise a capital’s history, but it opens a way to see memory beside a city still growing.

A city adding chapters
UNESCO describes Rabat as both a modern capital and a historic city, connecting modern planning with the period beginning in 1912. That is not the start of the city’s history: walls, kasbah and Hassan Tower carry earlier times.
The distance between the mausoleum and the tower on the horizon makes this layering visible. The buildings belong to different periods and serve different purposes. Their shared frame invites a question about the presence of memory in a contemporary city.
Story sources: UNESCO · Petar MiloševićA detail worth approaching
Photographs of the mausoleum fountain and ceiling bring the view closer: tile, plaster and wood make the building a meeting of materials and skills. These images belong to Rabat and to craft stories that connect several cities.
After the wider view, choose a detail and return to the whole scene. Moving between near and far gives the visit balance: recognising the monument while leaving room for the work that forms its surfaces.
